Junior Legal Counsel

About the role

Ebury is seeking a motivated Junior Legal Counsel to join its Madrid office. Working within a fast‑growing fintech environment, you will support the in‑house legal team on a variety of finance, corporate and commercial matters while gaining exposure to global regulatory frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and update commercial agreements, client terms, conditions and legal templates.
• Provide legal advice on new product design, market expansion and regulatory compliance (e.g., PSD2, PSRs, MiFID).
• Collaborate with front‑office, product, corporate development and other departments to resolve day‑to‑day legal queries.
• Act as board secretary for selected subsidiaries, preparing minutes and handling corporate governance matters.
• Manage quarterly governance cycles and assist in establishing new entities.
• Represent Ebury with clients, counterparties, banking partners and industry bodies.
• Work closely with the compliance team to develop playbooks, procedures and self‑service materials.
• Participate in internal training and awareness programmes.

Required profile

• Fully qualified lawyer in a jurisdiction where Ebury operates, or a comparable legal qualification.
• 2‑3 years of post‑qualification experience in private practice or in‑house.
• Excellent communication skills in English (C1/C2) and ability to convey complex legal concepts to non‑legal stakeholders.
• Proactive mindset with strong organisational abilities.

Required skills

• Fluency in English (C1/C2).
• Legal qualification and relevant jurisdictional knowledge.
• Familiarity with financial services regulations such as PSD2, PSRs and MiFID.
