Security Engineer – Cloud & Managed Services

About the role

Join Syntax as a Security Engineer and help industrial customers modernise their security architectures while building sustainable cyber‑resilience. You will work with international experts on cutting‑edge security services and contribute to the secure operation of complex IT landscapes.

Key responsibilities

• Advise customers on security matters from design through development.
• Analyse, design and continuously improve security services and define new managed offerings.
• Work with modern security technologies such as EDR/XDR, IDS/IPS, PAM, vulnerability management and SIEM.
• Independently support and coordinate internal and external security incidents (detection, containment, eradication, lessons learned).
• Monitor, analyse and defend against emerging threats through threat hunting and intelligence.
• Collaborate on new security requirements, guidelines and controls for customers.
• Cooperate with European and global security teams to enhance solutions, methods and automation.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of IT/cybersecurity, networks, operating systems and modern security architectures.
• Hands‑on experience with EDR/XDR, IDS/IPS, PAM and preferably SIEM and vulnerability management tools.
• Interest or experience in automation and scripting (Ansible, SALT, Python, PowerShell).
• Understanding of indicators of compromise, risk modelling and security frameworks such as ISO 27001 and NIST.
• Excellent English; German is a plus.
• Spanish or Portuguese nationality, or a permanent work permit/VISA for Spain or Portugal.
