Legal Counsel – Banking & Digital Services

About the role

Openbank, the fully digital bank of the Santander Group, is looking for a Legal Counsel to support its rapid technological transformation and international expansion. You will work closely with product, fraud, risk, IT and compliance teams to ensure legal compliance across all digital banking services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal and regulatory advice for the Bank’s everyday activities, covering retail banking, consumer loans, insurance, wealth management and payment services.
• Participate in the design, approval and commercial launch of new products and services.
• Draft and review contracts, confidentiality agreements and client communications.
• Interpret and advise on European and national regulations, including new regulatory implementations.
• Handle administrative procedures before public registries.
• Contribute to digitalisation and innovation projects.

Required profile

• Degree in Spanish Law and fully qualified lawyer in Spain.
• At least 6 years of experience in a banking legal environment, either in‑house or at a law firm.
• Experience with banking and investment products, consumer protection laws and remote contracting.
• Fluent English (C1 level) and strong judgment, proactive attitude and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
