Legal Counsel – Digital Banking

About the role

Openbank, the 100% digital bank of the Santander Group, is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its rapid technological transformation and international expansion. You will join the Legal Team and work closely with product, fraud, risk, IT, compliance and other stakeholders across Spain and abroad.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal and regulatory advice on the Bank’s everyday activities, covering retail banking products such as consumer loans, insurance, wealth management and payment services.
• Participate in the design, approval and commercial launch of new digital products and services.
• Draft and review contracts, confidentiality agreements, client communications and other legal documentation.
• Advise on the implementation of European and national regulations and manage administrative procedures before public registries.
• Support digitalisation and innovation projects within the Bank.

Required profile

• Degree in Spanish Law and fully qualified lawyer in Spain.
• At least 6 years of experience in a banking legal environment, either in a law firm or in‑house.
• Proven experience with banking or investment products and consumer‑protection regulations.
• LLM in Banking Law is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Fluent English (C1 level).
