M&A Analyst – Energy (Corporate & Investment Banking)

About the role

Santander Corporate & Investment Banking is seeking an M&A Analyst focused on the Energy sector. Based in the Luca de Tena office in Madrid, you will support senior bankers in delivering high‑impact transactions across the EMEA energy and energy‑transition space.

Key responsibilities

• Build and review detailed financial models, including operating models, DCFs, merger accretion/dilution analyses, and valuation frameworks.
• Perform valuation work using DCF, trading comparables, precedent transactions, and sector‑specific approaches.
• Prepare client‑facing materials such as pitch books, strategic reviews, management presentations, information memoranda, and board documents.
• Support live M&A and IPO transaction execution, coordinating due diligence, managing workstreams, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
• Conduct sector, company, investor, and transaction analysis across the energy and energy‑transition markets.
• Monitor market developments, valuation trends, regulatory themes, and investor activity in key sub‑sectors.
• Assist senior bankers with client dialogue, strategic analysis, and origination ideas.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of experience in investment banking, M&A, ECM/IPO advisory, or a similar transaction environment.
• Demonstrated execution experience on live transactions and ability to manage multiple workstreams.
• Strong analytical mindset with a proactive approach to risk management.
