Maintenance Technician (Electrical)

About the role

Grand Hyatt Barcelona is seeking a qualified, proactive Maintenance Technician to join its Engineering team. The role focuses on the upkeep, repair, and reliable operation of the hotel’s electrical systems across guest rooms, public areas and back‑of‑house facilities. The successful candidate will ensure safety, efficiency and uninterrupted service in a high‑end hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective electrical maintenance throughout the property.
• Troubleshoot and repair lighting systems, power outlets, switchboards, electrical panels, circuits and wiring.
• Maintain emergency lighting, UPS and generator backup power infrastructure.
• Ensure proper operation of electrical components linked to HVAC, kitchen equipment and guestroom appliances.
• Respond promptly to electrical incidents and maintenance requests.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings and manuals.
• Support energy‑efficiency and electrical consumption control initiatives.
• Guarantee compliance with electrical regulations, safety standards and hotel policies.
• Document maintenance activities, update work orders and logs accurately.
• Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers when specialized support is required.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience as an Electrical Maintenance Technician or Electrician, preferably in hotels, large buildings or complex installations.
• Technical training or certification in Electricity or Electromechanics (essential or highly valued).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Ability to work autonomously and on a rotating schedule that includes shifts, weekends and public holidays.
