Product Designer – Connector Solutions

About the role

The Connector Designer will lead the creation of innovative connector solutions from concept through to series‑production readiness. Working closely with internal teams, suppliers and customers, you will ensure technical, functional and economic excellence across all design activities.

Key responsibilities

• Define and coordinate technical requirements with internal departments, suppliers and customers.
• Develop conceptual solutions for components and assemblies within the assigned product group.
• Evaluate functional, material, manufacturing and cost aspects and align them with responsible departments.
• Present alternative design options, conduct detailed constructive studies and perform design modifications.
• Lead design‑related investigations such as DFMEA, tolerance studies, prototype reviews and functional testing.
• Prepare technical documentation, manage change requests and ensure data is kept up‑to‑date in relevant databases.
• Conduct patent research and coordinate with the Intellectual Property team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable technical field, or certified technician qualification.
• At least 3 years of experience in design engineering, product development or CAD‑based construction.
• Strong analytical abilities, effective communication, good time‑management and willingness to travel.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CATIA V5.
• Design of plastic and metal components.
• Knowledge of injection molding and stamping processes.
• Understanding of electrical engineering principles and relevant standards (DIN, VDE, OEM specifications).
• Experience with DFMEA, tolerance analysis and prototype testing.
