Senior Accountant – Finance & Reporting

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to lead our finance operations in Spain. The role will oversee full‑cycle accounting, ensure regulatory compliance, and support strategic budgeting and analysis within a fast‑moving CRO environment.

Key responsibilities

• Record and maintain all financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
• Prepare, reconcile and analyse profit & loss statements, balance sheets and cash‑flow reports.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes and ensure compliance with IFRS, GAAP and local regulations.
• Drive internal and external audits and manage audit documentation.
• Process invoices, payments and employee expense reports; monitor collections and reconcile vendor/customer accounts.
• Prepare tax filings (VAT, corporate and payroll) and ensure statutory reporting compliance.
• Assist in annual budgeting, financial forecasting and variance analysis.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and perform financial analysis to support decision‑making.
• Support implementation and optimisation of accounting systems, automating reporting and reconciliation processes.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented, analytical professional with at least 6 years of accounting or finance experience.
• Experience in the CRO, pharmaceutical or healthcare sector is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate across functions.
• Excellent organisational abilities, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proactive, adaptable mindset focused on continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP or Business Central.
• Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
• Experience with financial reporting systems and project‑based accounting.
• Knowledge of milestone‑based revenue recognition.
• Familiarity with process‑mapping and analysis tools.
