Senior Backend Engineer – Node.js & AWS

About the role

Deel is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build and scale core services that power its global payroll and HR platform. You will work with a distributed team to deliver high‑performance, reliable APIs that support millions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, designers and QA to deliver end‑to‑end features.
• Participate in product discovery, planning and deployment across the full software development lifecycle.
• Design, implement and maintain robust Node.js services and REST/GraphQL APIs.
• Integrate and optimise AWS services for scalability, security and cost‑efficiency.
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve bugs and performance issues quickly.
• Ensure code quality and maintainability through testing, code reviews and best‑practice standards.

Required profile

• Several years of professional experience building backend systems in a SaaS environment.
• Strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Proven ability to work independently and within cross‑functional teams.
• Passion for delivering customer‑centric, high‑quality software.
