Senior Legal Counsel – Spain

About the role

UNIQLO is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to lead its legal function for the Spanish market. The role covers commercial, consumer protection, data privacy, and labour matters, working closely with European and Japanese teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical, low‑risk legal advice to business units under tight deadlines.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks, proposing and implementing solutions.
• Manage litigation and disputes, including customer claims, coordinating internal teams and external counsel.
• Oversee works council and collective bargaining issues.
• Collaborate with HR on employee relations, works council matters, and labour law compliance.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, maintaining standard templates.
• Support corporate governance activities in Spain.
• Lead GDPR initiatives for Spain, ensuring data‑privacy compliance.
• Monitor legislative changes, assess impact, and advise the business.
• Deliver compliance training and develop efficient legal processes.

Required profile

• Admitted to practice law in Spain.
• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience in a law firm or in‑house, covering transactional work, disputes, consumer protection, data privacy, and labour law.
• Experience in the retail sector and a global, multicultural environment is preferred.
• Fluent in English, Spanish, and Catalan; Portuguese proficiency is a plus.
