AI Integration & Automation Engineer – Customs (Spain)

About the role

You will take our AI stack and lead its development and customisation for the customs market. This builder‑and‑doer role involves designing, testing and implementing practical, compliant AI solutions that support document understanding, classification, retrieval and multi‑step operational workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and customise AI solutions from prototype to production, ensuring reliability for customs declarations.
• Identify automation and decision‑support opportunities, size them honestly and build scalable solutions.
• Design generative‑AI and LLM‑based workflows, including retrieval, tool calling and structured extraction.
• Own evaluation: define success criteria, monitor performance, inference cost, latency and business impact.
• Manage pilots, set clear kill‑or‑scale criteria, and monitor ongoing performance.
• Collaborate with Operations, Transformation, IT, Group functions and technology partners.
• Contribute to privacy, security and AI‑governance compliance, addressing the EU AI Act.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of AI or software engineering experience with production‑grade LLM features.
• Strong Python and SQL coding skills with ownership of production code.
• Experience integrating large language models (prompt design, retrieval‑augmented generation, structured output, graceful failure handling).
• Professional fluency in English and strong communication with non‑technical customs staff.
