Airworthiness & Certification Engineer (Military Derivatives)

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is building a new team in Getafe, Spain for an upcoming military program within the Military Derivatives department. The role focuses on defining certification strategies, coordinating with authorities and stakeholders, and ensuring airworthiness compliance throughout the aircraft lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Define the aircraft certification basis and strategy aligned with design and operations.
• Negotiate and agree certification approaches with European and national airworthiness authorities.
• Coordinate internal design offices, program teams, and external suppliers to optimise the certification strategy for the Airbus family.
• Manage certification activities, deliver certification plans and means‑of‑compliance demonstrations on schedule.
• Support the full product lifecycle, including integration of military systems into a civil derivative aircraft.
• Provide certification and airworthiness expertise to various stakeholders and contribute to in‑service documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of engineering experience with high adaptability to new topics.
• Ability to manage and coordinate internal teams and external subcontractors.
• Good understanding of aircraft technical domains such as structural design, flight physics and systems.
• Technical background in aerospace disciplines (systems, structures, flight physics, flight control).
• Engineering degree in aerospace, industrial or related fields.
• Proficiency in English; Spanish and French are a plus.
