Associate Analyst / Analyst – Energy & Natural Resources (Madrid)

About the role

NERA, an economic consultancy group of economists serving law firms, corporations and regulators, is looking immediately to hire a full-time Associate Analyst or Analyst for its Energy and Natural Resources business in Madrid. The role sits in a team-based, multi-task environment combining qualitative and quantitative work, often under tight deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build quantitative models and apply econometric analysis to economic and financial data
• Collect market, industry, company and competitor information and review and analyse industry trends
• Manage large data sets and write code for complex analysis
• Auction design and/or simulation, and development of pricing systems for infrastructure
• Analyse financial market data and create trial exhibits
• Draft memos, expert reports and presentation materials, and take part in team meetings and conference calls

Required profile

• BA/BSc and a Master's or PhD in Economics or a related discipline with an excellent academic record; microeconomics, IO, econometrics and finance are of particular interest
• Interest in microeconomics and quantitative research
• Excellent written and spoken English and Spanish
• Ability to work independently and in teams, with strong attention to detail

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of Excel, Stata, R, Python or other statistical and analytical software
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or Codex is desirable
