Audit Data Analyst

About the role

The Audit Data Analyst supports the Internal Audit function by applying data analytics throughout the audit lifecycle. This role enhances audit planning, execution, reporting and follow‑up through full‑population testing and continuous auditing.

Key responsibilities

• Research emerging data analysis techniques, audit analytics tools and industry trends.
• Identify and escalate data quality issues that may indicate control deficiencies.
• Design and execute analytics for business process controls, IT general controls, application controls and segregation of duties.
• Apply analytical techniques such as duplicate testing, gap testing, sequential and cutoff analysis, trend and outlier detection, and digital analysis.
• Develop, document and maintain repeatable analytic routines, scripts and dashboards.
• Perform data cleansing, normalization and reconciliation while preserving audit evidence.
• Support advanced analytics (predictive analytics, anomaly detection) where appropriate.
• Extract data independently from financial, operational and IT source systems.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree with 5 years progressive audit data analytics experience, OR Bachelor’s degree with 2 years experience.
• Relevant certifications such as IIA Data Analytics or Data Literacy certificates.
• Valid T&T driver’s licence, passport and ability to travel overseas.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours, including weekends and public holidays.
• Understanding of data architecture, data lineage and governance frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of the audit lifecycle, internal controls and risk concepts.
• Proficiency in Excel, SQL, ACL, Alteryx and Power BI.
• Ability to document analytics clearly for audit trails and repeatability.
