About the role
Voltrac is developing an autonomous electric tractor to boost Europe’s food security and defence capabilities. As an Autonomous Engineer you will lead the creation of the core autonomy stack that enables the vehicle to navigate vineyards, olive orchards and citrus groves safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement and iterate on autonomy algorithms, from GPS waypoint following to advanced transformer‑based approaches.
- Train and evaluate machine‑learning models for perception and decision‑making.
- Plan and execute testing campaigns in both simulated environments and real field conditions.
- Define verification and safety criteria and ensure compliance throughout development.
- Manage deployment pipelines, monitor released models and coordinate updates with end‑users.
- Integrate data ingestion pipelines when relevant to the autonomy workflow.
Required profile
- Strong hands‑on coding ability with solid software engineering fundamentals.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of state‑of‑the‑art autonomy and machine‑learning techniques.
- Ability to work autonomously in a small, high‑ownership team.
- Willingness to conduct field testing and iterate based on real‑world feedback.
