Auxiliary Nurse – 50% Part‑Time School Health Role

About the role

The Auxiliary Nurse supports the School Nurse in delivering health, safety and wellbeing services to students, staff and visitors. Working on a 50% FTE basis, the role combines direct clinical care with administrative duties to ensure smooth operation of the school’s medical provision.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first aid and basic nursing care to students, staff and visitors in line with school policies.
• Assist the School Nurse in managing chronic conditions, allergies and individual healthcare plans.
• Administer medication under supervision and maintain accurate, confidential health records.
• Monitor unwell students during the day, communicate with parents or guardians as needed, and keep the medical room clean and well‑stocked.
• Record accidents, incidents and treatments, prepare health reports, schedule appointments, vaccinations and health screenings.
• Support communication with parents, healthcare providers and external agencies regarding student medical needs.

Required profile

• Qualification as an Auxiliary Nurse or equivalent healthcare qualification.
• Previous experience in a healthcare or educational setting.
• Current First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain one).
• Strong organisational, administrative and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using electronic health record management systems.
