Building Engineer Consultant

About the role

Turner & Townsend, a global professional services firm with over 22,000 people in more than 60 countries, is hiring a Building Engineer Consultant in Madrid. The role sits in the Engineering and Technical Services function, which provides support, preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety and control systems, keeping facilities up to the applicable standards.
• Follow codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives on building operations and work safety.
• Maintain an energy management program so systems run efficiently, and help implement a preventive maintenance program.
• Carry out emergency repairs and follow policies on the safe storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Review inspections of fire alarms, HVAC and plumbing to confirm equipment operates within its design capabilities.
• Apply sound principles and techniques to complex assignments, coach colleagues and share knowledge across disciplines.
• Contribute to the Management System, including quality and environmental policies and the Best Environmental Practices Manual.

Required profile

• High school diploma, GED or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job-related experience; experience and education can substitute for a diploma.
• Universal CFC certification preferred; certifications or licenses required by local or state authorities.
• Prior shift management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to meet physical demands: stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting or carrying loads of 50 lbs or more.
• Willingness to judge from multiple sources of information and to take a new perspective on existing solutions.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Sophisticated math skills, including percentages, fractions and other financial calculations.
• Organizational skills and an advanced inquisitive mindset.
