Chief Information Security Officer - Tech Risk & Cybersecurity

About the role

The Chief Information Security Officer – Tech Risk & Cybersecurity will lead the security strategy for the Data & AI division of Santander in Boadilla del Monte. Reporting to senior leadership, you will ensure that innovative data and AI initiatives are protected, compliant and aligned with the Group’s cyber strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Support Data & AI strategic goals by enabling secure innovation and managing cyber risk.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior executives on security posture, investment decisions and resilience.
• Provide governance, risk oversight, compliance reporting and regular executive updates on incidents and remediation.
• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Audit, Privacy, Technology and business teams to align risk management.
• Implement cybersecurity controls, standards and security‑by‑design principles across all Data & AI projects.
• Monitor emerging threats, define mitigation strategies and strengthen the division’s cyber resilience.
• Support internal and external audits and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in cybersecurity within a large, regulated organization.
• Strong understanding of risk culture and proactive risk management.
• Ability to influence and advise senior management on security matters.
• Excellent collaboration skills across multiple functional areas.
