Color Quality Specialist - Refinish

About the role

Axalta is recruiting a Color Quality Specialist in Madrid to support Axalta Refinish Color Marketing with color support across several refinish mixing machine qualities. The role involves adjusting color positions, retrieving and loading formulas, and working closely with customers.

Key responsibilities

• Adjust the color position of a formula using spectrophotometer readings and visual shading skills.
• Use customer-facing color retrieval systems to demonstrate best practice and access and load new or existing formulas.
• Work with isocyanate paint chemistry and verify color accuracy against customer expectations.
• Spray panels according to specific procedures using mainstream refinish paint shop spray equipment.
• Use the Mobius and Global Color Analytics databases and communicate with customers at all levels.
• Maintain a high level of safety awareness, especially when visiting customer sites.

Required profile

• Pass the Farnsworth/Munsell 100 Hue or comparable color vision test.
• Working knowledge of paint preparation and finished product acceptability (appearance, orange peel, spray ability, mottle, color match).
• Ability to work in physically challenging conditions, including at customer premises.
• Team-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills, planning and prioritization abilities, and the ability to present data in written and digital formats.

Required skills

• Demonstrate proper use of Axalta spectrophotometers and know the color knowledge of Spies Hecker, Standox and Cromax solvent and waterborne systems.
• Basic math skills to balance a formula using tint tables.
• Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
