Computer Operator I - Data Center Operations

About the role

Brightstar, a global lottery company, is hiring a Computer Operator I to support its data center and lottery operations in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. The role monitors critical systems, responds to incidents, supports agents and customers and helps keep lottery products and services running continuously. It is an onsite position in a fast-paced 24x6 environment, requiring rotating shifts including evenings, overnight hours, weekends and public holidays.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor enterprise systems and infrastructure, identify issues, perform corrective actions and escalate incidents according to established procedures
• Run daily and nightly operational checklists and complete system balancing and validation processes to ensure transaction accuracy
• Answer agent and customer inquiries and resolve operational issues
• Generate operational reports and review them for completeness, validity and accuracy
• Assist recovery and business continuity activities after incidents or disruptions
• Maintain the computer room, testing laboratory, storage areas and operational resources to established standards
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Minimum of five O'Level subjects or equivalent secondary education
• Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field preferred
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and follow operational procedures
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays
• Effective reading, writing and communication in English

Required skills

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and standard business software
• Linux and/or UNIX exposure is an asset
• Nice to have: experience in data center, operations center, network operations center or help desk environments, knowledge of incident management and monitoring tools, familiarity with transaction-processing systems, background in lottery, gaming, financial services, telecommunications or similar mission-critical sectors, understanding of system balancing and reconciliation, and certification in IT or Linux administration
