Crypto Lawyer – Digital Asset Legal Specialist

About the role

Santander is seeking a Crypto Lawyer to join its Boadilla del Monte office. The role focuses on shaping and delivering retail digital‑asset products across multiple geographies while ensuring compliance with evolving regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on the design, structuring and delivery of global, scalable digital‑asset products and services for retail customers.
• Draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial and technology agreements, including supplier, partnership and customer‑facing contracts.
• Develop core legal templates and guidance for retail digital‑asset offerings across multiple jurisdictions.
• Advise on regulatory changes such as MiCA (EU), GENIUS (US) and comparable laws in the UK, APAC and LATAM.
• Support major projects and transactions, collaborating with senior management, other Santander legal teams and external counsel where appropriate.
• Collaborate with local legal and compliance teams on digital‑asset retail products and services.
• Monitor industry consultations and contribute to internal training on regulatory and market developments in the digital‑asset arena.

Required profile

• Minimum seven years post‑qualification experience as a lawyer in a law firm or in‑house, preferably within a fintech or payments environment.
• Demonstrated experience with digital assets and blockchain technology.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in law (required); MBA or additional business qualifications are a plus.
