Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician

About the role

As a Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician you will support Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation by managing the flow of hardware and data‑bearing devices in and out of our data centers. You will perform cycle audits, handle deliveries, coordinate security escorts for third‑party vendors, and ensure accurate documentation of all inbound and outbound items.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cycle audits and track physical inventory throughout the data center.
• Execute incoming and outgoing deliveries, including packaging, shipment, and receipt of returned merchandise.
• Coordinate security escorts for third‑party vendors and document all deliveries.
• Initiate warranty claims and process failed vendor hardware, following RMA procedures and service level agreements.
• Maintain up‑to‑date information in inventory management systems such as configuration management databases and asset repositories.
• Reconcile and report inventory discrepancies and ensure detailed staging of assets.
• Destroy data‑bearing devices in compliance with SLAs and security policies.
• Escalate issues during high‑volume periods and work with minimal supervision.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict procedural guidelines.
• Capability to work independently and make sound judgments under minimal supervision.
• Understanding of inventory and asset management processes in a high‑tech environment.
• Ability to handle high‑volume work and prioritize tasks effectively.
