Datacenter Networks Engineer – Palo Alto

About the role

Join the Datacenter Networks Squad, a high‑energy team that ensures the reliability, security and performance of ING’s cloud infrastructure. As a Datacenter Networks Engineer you will work in an agile environment, collaborating with product owners and fellow engineers to continuously improve services for internal and external customers.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in daily stand‑ups, sprint planning and sprint reviews within an agile framework.
• Collaborate closely with the Product Owner and squad members to deliver on a shared backlog.
• Own reporting activities, guide the squad and steer initiatives that boost service quality and customer satisfaction.
• Provide trusted advisory support to other squads and the wider tribe.
• Utilise video‑conferencing and collaboration tools to enable effective communication across distributed teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing, implementing and modifying network infrastructure in LAN, WAN and data‑center environments.
• Strong understanding of routing and switching protocols in highly available settings.
• Extensive knowledge of firewall products, preferably Palo Alto Networks.
• Hands‑on experience with scripting and automation tools.
• Familiarity with Incident, Problem, Change and Configuration Management processes.
• Understanding of security and risk principles and the Scrum methodology.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to produce clear documentation and work instructions.
• Relevant certifications on Palo Alto Networks firewalls are a plus.
