Design Engineer

About the role

Exide Technologies is seeking a Design Engineer to join its Automotive division in Azuqueca de Henares, Spain. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will lead the development of new battery products and technical modifications, ensuring they meet customer requirements and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare technical drawing documentation and battery component specifications.
• Perform calculations for process‑control parameters to ensure product compliance.
• Redesign existing batteries and calculate performance ratios against Exide and competitor products.
• Source, test, and evaluate new components and materials in collaboration with suppliers.
• Manage design BOMs, component part numbers, and engineering change documentation.
• Plan, organize, and follow up on prototypes and pre‑series units.
• Participate in homologation activities, FMEA, 8D problem‑solving, and continuous‑improvement projects.
• Support internal and external audits and contribute to cost‑saving initiatives.
• Collaborate with regional and local teams to implement safe launch methodologies and standardize design features for AGM and flooded batteries.

Required profile

• Industrial Engineering degree (Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering).
• Experience in an industrial environment; battery‑specific experience is not mandatory.
• Proven ability to work on product development projects and cross‑functional teams.
