Development Editor – Publishing Content Development

About the role

Working within the Publishing Content Development team, the Development Editor is responsible for end‑to‑end content creation, from author brief to final publication, ensuring high quality and alignment with the senior commissioning editor’s vision.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare author briefs based on market intelligence and target‑audience needs.
• Identify and commission suitable authors and contributors, managing contracts and budgets.
• Provide constructive feedback to authors, oversee copy‑editing, and ensure content meets brief, format and quality standards.
• Coordinate with design, media and delivery teams to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
• Create specification briefs for artwork, digital assets and style sheets, and support rights‑clearance processes.

Required profile

• Degree level education with a formal ELT/TEFL qualification.
• Demonstrable ELT/EFL teaching experience and strong appreciation of international teaching contexts.
• Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and team‑working skills.
• Experience working on new media and digital projects, with a good understanding of publishing workflows.
