Director of MICE

About the role

The Grand Hyatt Barcelona is seeking an experienced Director of MICE to shape and execute its Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Events strategy. This senior leadership position will drive commercial growth, ensure flawless event delivery, and reinforce the hotel’s reputation as a premier destination for world‑class gatherings.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead a global MICE strategy aligned with Hyatt’s commercial priorities.
• Identify, target, and secure high‑value MICE business from corporate, association, and incentive clients.
• Build and nurture relationships with key accounts, DMCs, agencies, and event organizers.
• Represent the hotel at major trade shows, industry summits, and networking events.
• Analyze market trends and competitor performance to adjust strategy proactively.
• Collaborate with Revenue and Sales teams to optimize segmentation, forecasting, pricing, and profitability.
• Oversee the full event pipeline from inquiry to post‑event review, ensuring flawless execution with Banquets, Culinary, AV/IT, and Operations teams.
• Approve Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and enforce brand standards.
• Act as primary contact for top‑tier MICE clients, conducting site inspections, planning meetings, and client entertainment.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the MICE and Events teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in the international MICE or luxury hospitality sector.
• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of driving revenue and market share.
• Strategic thinker capable of translating market insights into actionable plans.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills with agencies, DMCs, and corporate clients.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with Sales, Revenue, Banquets, Culinary, and Operations teams.
