Dispatch Team Leader

About the role

JD Logistics is building its first logistics hub in Spain and needs a Dispatch Team Leader to launch and run the 24/7 transportation dispatch and routing operation for the Madrid network. The role will own the real-time dispatch desk, turning high-level transport plans into daily execution and ensuring cost-effective, on-time movement of vehicles between ports, fulfillment centres and last-mile stations.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and continuously improve real-time routing, tracking and communication protocols for the dispatch team.
• Lead a team of dispatchers and routing analysts, managing 24/7 scheduling and carrier departures/arrivals.
• Maintain near-perfect on-time departure and arrival performance for line-hauls and inbound shipments.
• Optimize vehicle cube utilization, route efficiency and spot-market carrier usage while respecting budget limits.
• Establish escalation procedures to handle transit disruptions such as driver delays, breakdowns or road closures and keep downstream operations informed.

Required profile

• Proven experience launching or operating a fast-paced transport control tower or dispatch desk, preferably in an express parcel, e‑commerce or large freight environment.
• Data-driven mindset with ability to analyse real-time operational metrics and make quick decisions.
• Strong leadership skills to build and manage a new team in a greenfield setting.

Required skills

• Experience with real-time dispatch and routing systems.
• Knowledge of carrier management, SLA compliance and cost-capacity optimisation.
