Equity Derivatives Flow Trader

About the role

The Equity Derivatives Trading Desk at BBVA acts as a liquidity provider for institutional and corporate clients across global equity markets, offering competitive pricing and tailored risk management solutions. The desk is looking for an experienced Equity Derivatives Flow Trader to join it as a key liquidity provider, managing risk and driving profitability across a portfolio of equity derivatives focused mainly on vanilla options and light exotics. The trader prices client flows, hedges complex risk exposures dynamically and uses technology to optimise trading.

Key responsibilities

• Provide liquidity and manage risk for a portfolio of vanilla and light exotic equity derivatives.
• Offer competitive, timely pricing to institutional and corporate clients, working closely with the Sales team to capture market share and drive franchise revenue.
• Use advanced Python knowledge to develop, optimise and automate internal tools.
• Monitor global equity markets to identify trading opportunities, optimise inventory and generate market colour for internal teams and clients.
• Contribute to improving portfolio risk and profitability reporting.
• Ensure strict adherence to risk limits, internal trading policies and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• 3+ years of front-office experience in Equity Derivatives Trading.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or Physics.
• Professional fluency in English; Spanish is a strong plus.
• Strong communication skills, collaborative mindset and the ability to make rapid, data-driven decisions under pressure.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of options pricing, volatility dynamics and Greek risk management.
• Advanced knowledge of VBA and Python for quantitative modelling, financial data analysis and automation.
• Knowledge of financial derivatives.
