Evergreen Military Derivatives Software Platform Engineer

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is hiring a Software Platform Engineer in Getafe (Madrid) to join its Software Mission Systems Team. The team builds the future of the development ecosystem through infrastructure automation and software enablement. The role contributes to core programs and platform initiatives, including the internal PaaS roadmap, and helps build the foundational tools, automation systems and virtual labs that let the development team deliver mission-critical software safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Design, configure and implement robust CI/CD pipelines and automated quality integration (code analysis, linters and GUI testing frameworks).
• Develop and implement software architecture, APIs and internal tooling for the internal PaaS to enable self-service application deployment.
• Create and deploy automated virtualized test environments using containerization (Docker, Podman) and hypervisors (KVM, QEMU) to simulate production setups.
• Automate infrastructure deployment flows with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Bash/Python scripting to achieve "one-command" environments.
• Optimize virtual network architectures and middleware (DDS) to support high-throughput, real-time distributed data communications.
• Produce technical documentation, including platform architecture designs and developer self-service guides.

Required profile

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent technical experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering, DevOps or Platform Engineering.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, team spirit, and the ability to work in complex, international and multicultural environments.
• Advanced level of English.

Required skills

• Linux systems administration and network configuration.
• Python and Bash scripting.
• CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Nice to have: familiarity with C++ build ecosystems (CMake), the Qt framework and DDS (Data Distribution Service) implementations.
