Export Control Compliance Manager

About the role

An Export Control Compliance Manager is needed for Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Madrid). The role will lead export‑control implementation and coordinate projects to ensure the operational feasibility of military aircraft flight‑test campaigns.

Key responsibilities

• Lead export‑control activities and improvement projects, including AI‑driven auto‑classification of parts and technology documents.
• Provide regulatory expertise on Spanish, EU dual‑use, US EAR and ITAR regulations for the military aeronautical industry.
• Act as technical rater for classifications, ensuring hardware/software and documentation are correctly categorized and resolving legacy traceability issues.
• Coordinate inbound/outbound hardware/software compliance and validate flight‑test campaigns using the Export Control Hold‑And‑Release (EC‑HAR) tool.
• Manage end‑to‑end licensing requests and export documentation (ECCDs/EUS) to maintain continuous operational capacity.
• Promote a compliance culture through audits, recommendations and tailored training for approximately 500 employees.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Law, Business Administration or a related discipline.
• Proven professional experience in export control within the aerospace or defence sector, handling ITAR/EAR transactions.
• Advanced/Fluent level of English.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Spanish, EU dual‑use, US EAR and ITAR regulations.
• Experience with Airbus tools such as DMS, SAP and the Export Control Hold‑And‑Release (EC‑HAR) system.
• Ability to classify hardware/software using ECCN and manage licensing requests (ECCDs/EUS).
• Familiarity with AI‑driven data classification or digital automation (nice to have).
