Full-time Faculty Position in Political Science & International Relations

About the role

The Department of Political Science and International Relations at SLU-Madrid invites applications for a full‑time faculty position starting January 2027. The role combines undergraduate teaching, graduate instruction, research, and service within a culturally diverse, international campus environment.

Key responsibilities

• Teach six undergraduate courses (18 credits) per academic year, with the possibility of delivering graduate courses.
• Maintain an active research agenda in political science, international relations, or international law, producing high‑quality scholarly publications.
• Participate in departmental and university committees and contribute to professional service within the discipline.
• Engage with a culturally diverse, international student body and support their academic development.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Political Science, International Relations or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in International Law with a regional focus on Africa, the Balkans or Southeast Asia (preferred).
• Evidence of effective teaching and a strong record of scholarly research.
• Commitment to service through committee work and professional activities.
• Fluency in English; familiarity with the U.S. higher‑education system is advantageous.
• Experience working in an internationally diverse academic environment.
