German Payroll Lead - SAP

About the role

Strada, a people, payroll and technology company operating in 180+ countries, is hiring a German Payroll Functional Lead (SAP) for a fully remote position based in Spain or Poland. The role supports the German payroll country solution and acts as the subject matter expert for a delivery team of about 15 people, covering implementations, legislative compliance and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Support managers with client engagement and the sales process, flagging concerns early
• Guide implementations and go-lives, ensuring automation and standards are used
• Provide daily functional support to the team and act as escalation point for German payroll questions
• Maintain the Country Solution workbook and manage the legislation roadmap, keeping the team upskilled on new laws and processes
• Resolve escalated technical and functional issues, logging defects with the required evidence
• Work with Operations, Transformation and Products on automation and continuous improvement, and cover year-end activities
• Identify upsell opportunities, support client escalations and train and coach team members
• Follow security standards, complete time recording accurately and contribute to team meetings

Required profile

• Fluent German and English (mandatory)
• 5-8 years of experience administering payroll in an HR consulting, outsourcing or corporate environment
• Expert knowledge of German payroll processes, practices and legislation
• Strong knowledge of payroll inputs and outputs such as third-party interfaces, timekeeping, tax filing and benefits
• BA/BS in accounting, human resources, business administration or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Current and future work authorization in the country of application, without visa sponsorship

Required skills

• Hands-on SAP Payroll experience (mandatory)
• MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Desirable: HRIS (Workday or PeopleSoft), EuHReka, Exchange, PDL and VPS certifications, and experience with remote teams
