Group Deputy Chief Executive Officer – Operations & Administration

About the role

The Group Deputy Chief Executive Officer – Operations & Administration leads the day‑to‑day running of the Group’s business, partnering closely with the Group CEO to translate strategic objectives into operational excellence across the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Align the operations and administration arm with the Group’s strategic objectives and develop the strategic framework with the executive team.
• Oversee functional areas including Group Operations, Shared Services, Project Management Office, Facilities Management, Security Services, ICT, Human Resources, Strategic Planning, Marketing and Communications.
• Drive business‑strategy development, planning and resource allocation across all functional areas.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and report issues, opportunities and service gaps to the CEO and Board.
• Maintain oversight of budgeting, financial management, expense control and capital allocation for operations and administration.
• Lead policy development in collaboration with the CEO and senior management.
• Manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships to support business objectives and enhance the First Citizens brand.
• Serve as director on subsidiary boards and participate in internal and external committees as required.
• Act as Group CEO when necessary.

Required profile

• Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline or professional qualification (e.g., CFA, CIMA, ACCA) with at least ten years of senior‑level banking or financial‑services experience, **or** a first degree with a minimum of twelve years of senior‑level experience.
• Extensive banking operations experience and strong technology awareness in a banking environment.
• Proven record of strategic leadership, stakeholder management and delivering results at an executive level.
