HSE Manager CommOps Spain & Portugal

About the role

Novartis is looking for an HSE Manager for its CommOps business in Spain and Portugal. The role is a strategic HSE lead in a small cluster, country or site, responsible for building trustful relationships with authorities and the public, representing HSE locally and maintaining HSE management systems that support line managers in complying with local legislation and Novartis policies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the HSE function in the country or mono-platform site, ensuring compliance with Novartis HSE documents and legal requirements.
• Build strong relationships with the business, establish governance mechanisms and link directly with Site Leadership.
• Manage the risk portfolio, ensure timely incident reporting and escalation, and lead root cause investigations and lessons learned.
• Coach line managers on HSE and develop HSE capabilities across the business.
• Contribute to HSE services strategies and ensure services meet business needs and requirements.
• Monitor the regulatory landscape and its implications for Novartis businesses, facilities and products.
• Act as coordinator of the Joint Prevention Service in Spain, coordinating preventive activities, risk assessments, the annual programme and documentation.

Required profile

• College or university degree in safety management, industrial hygiene, environmental science, occupational health and medicine, engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional HSE experience.
• Country-relevant HSE qualification/certification in Safety, Hygiene and Ergonomics and Psychosocial aspects.
• Advanced knowledge of Spanish; English at an advanced level preferred.
• Ability to influence without authority in a matrixed environment, with strong stakeholder management.
