Indirect Tax Consultant – VAT Advisory (Madrid)

About the role

AVASK Global Compliance is looking for an Indirect Tax Consultant to join its Madrid office. You will support a diverse portfolio of e‑commerce clients by providing expert VAT advice, ensuring compliance with European tax regulations, and helping businesses navigate cross‑border transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality VAT consultancy and business advice to assigned clients.
• Calculate, prepare and file European VAT returns accurately and on time.
• Advise clients on VAT liabilities, tax payments and deadlines, including EC Sales and Intrastat reporting.
• Communicate with tax authorities on behalf of clients and manage any related audits or investigations.
• Coordinate client account matters with the Credit Control Department.
• Stay up‑to‑date with changes in VAT legislation and ensure clients remain compliant.
• Provide exceptional customer service to build strong, trusted relationships.
• Represent the firm at industry events and webinars, and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience working with Spanish VAT.
• Background in law, VAT, accountancy or finance.
• Strong communication skills for client interaction via email, phone and face‑to‑face.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Organised, able to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
