Investment Accounting & Reporting Associate Director

About the role

Zurich Insurance Group’s ServiZurich unit in Barcelona is looking for an experienced Investment Accounting & Reporting Associate Director. You will own the investment sub‑ledger, ensure accurate monthly closes, and drive automation and digitalisation across the function.

Key responsibilities

• Own and oversee the investment sub‑ledger, configuring security accounting, valuation and posting logic.
• Execute monthly and quarterly close cycles, producing internal, audit and stakeholder investment reports.
• Act as escalation point for complex issues, performing root‑cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Apply IFRS, US Statutory (NAIC), US GAAP and US Tax knowledge to validate instrument behaviour and resolve audit queries.
• Prepare and review NAIC statutory investment schedules and US tax reporting data.
• Lead cross‑functional improvement initiatives to enhance reporting quality and internal controls.
• Drive digitalisation using Power BI, Power Automate, Python and AI agents.
• Coach and develop Associates, ensuring consistent application of accounting policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Investment Accounting or Finance with 5+ years experience (or equivalent high‑school diploma with 7–10+ years).
• Proven practical knowledge of US GAAP, US Statutory and US Tax accounting applied in real reporting cycles.
• Strong understanding of fixed income, equities, structured products, private debt and alternative assets.
• Solution‑focused mindset, able to spot issues early and improve processes.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and manage competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
