Java Backend Developer (Kafka & Microservices)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Java Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain high‑performance, event‑driven solutions. You will work within a collaborative engineering team to evolve critical applications that support a leading international organization.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java (8+) and Spring Boot.
• Build and evolve microservices architectures following best‑practice design patterns.
• Implement event‑driven solutions with Apache Kafka, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Work with relational (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and non‑relational (MongoDB) databases.
• Apply clean‑code principles, design patterns, and functional programming concepts.
• Develop automated tests using TDD and/or BDD methodologies.
• Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide production support, including a rotating 24/7 on‑call schedule.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimise backend services for high availability.
• Contribute to technical documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of professional backend development experience.
• At least 4 years of hands‑on experience with Apache Kafka.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, autonomy, and ability to work in a team.
• English proficiency of at least B2 level.
