Junior Software Platform Integration Engineer

About the role

Join the Highly Integrated Systems domain within Airbus Defence and Space, working in the Computing Platforms & Multisystems HW/SW Integration group. You will support the development, testing and certification of safety‑critical software for airborne computing platforms, contributing to next‑generation AirPower systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in eliciting and maintaining Software Requirements Specifications for safety‑critical computers and support V&V activities up to DAL‑A.
• Contribute to platform integration tasks such as partitioning, scheduling, resource allocation and integration of third‑party applications, RTOS BSPs, drivers and middleware.
• Help implement and maintain common APIs and standardized access to platform support software (RTOS, BSP, low‑level I/O, middleware).
• Participate in developing new capabilities like secure mathematical functions, file‑system services and logging services.
• Support certification documentation and evidence preparation for RTCA DO‑178C compliance.
• Perform technical benchmarking, rapid prototyping on reference boards and assist with board bring‑up of new target platforms.

Required profile

• Solid understanding of C programming for real‑time embedded systems and familiarity with GNU toolchains (GCC, Clang/LLVM).
• Foundational knowledge of ARM, PowerPC or x86 architectures, MMUs, caches and memory hierarchies.
• Basic knowledge of avionics data buses (ARINC‑429, CAN, Ethernet) and low‑speed peripherals (UART, SPI, I2C, DMA).
• Academic or internship experience with safety‑critical RTOS and ARINC‑653 specification.
• Awareness of RTCA DO‑178C certification processes and ability to use Python for automation.
• Good command of English (B2 level or higher) for technical documentation and teamwork.
