Lead Fighter Pilot Instructor & Subject Matter Expert (SAETA II)

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is seeking a Lead Fighter Pilot Instructor and Subject Matter Expert for the SAETA II program in Getafe, Madrid. The role will head the Spanish Trainer program, delivering ground‑based theoretical and simulator training for military aircrews.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the pilot instructor team, managing project scope, planning, supplier relationships and progress reporting.
• Deliver ground‑based aircrew training, including theoretical instruction and flight‑simulator sessions.
• Design and develop training plans, course content and technical documentation aligned with operational requirements.
• Conduct Training Needs Analysis and evaluate technical documentation to define core training objectives.
• Manage subcontracted work packages, supervising supplier performance and approving training deliverables.
• Support creation of multimedia products (CBTs, digital courseware) by preparing detailed data packages and technical support documentation.

Required profile

• Aeronautical Engineering degree, university degree or equivalent Military Flight Academy qualification.
• More than 10 years of experience as a combat fighter pilot on Eurofighter or F‑18, with proven flight‑instructor experience.
• Native Spanish and advanced English (written and spoken).
• Strong public‑speaking, audience management and team‑oriented attitude.
• Project‑management and supplier‑management experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with multimedia training applications.
• Experience in Training Needs Analysis and Computer‑Based Training development is a plus.
