Lead/Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Rover is looking for a Lead/Senior Software Engineer to join its Barcelona hub. This full‑time permanent position is hybrid, with two days a week on site, and includes sponsorship and relocation assistance. You will help build safe, personalized pet‑care experiences using modern web and mobile technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain customer‑facing applications with ReactJS and React Native.
• Build backend services and APIs in Python, preferably using Django.
• Collaborate with product, design, and data teams to translate loose requirements into concrete solutions.
• Ensure high code quality through automated testing, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Leverage AI‑assisted development tools to automate repetitive tasks and improve productivity.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning.
• Participate in architecture discussions and drive technical decisions.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong passion for Rover’s mission and a user‑centric mindset.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and thrive in an agile environment.
• Excellent English communication skills and a love for pets.
• Experience with Scrum, Kanban, or XP methodologies.
