Legal Liability Expert - Loss Adjuster (Hybrid)

About the role

Sedgwick is looking for a legal liability loss adjuster to join its Legal & Liability loss adjusting team in Madrid. The role covers international claims, from managing them through to negotiation and settlement, with a hybrid schedule of two days in the office and three days remote.

Key responsibilities

• Manage claims, mainly with an international profile (foreign client, claimant or loss location)
• Prepare and present case workplans to clients and follow them up
• Write loss adjustment reports, alone or with in-house or external technical experts
• Assess and validate loss quantum (material damage, business interruption, bodily injury)
• Negotiate with involved parties up to case settlement
• Interact with external lawyers and counsel

Required profile

• Degree in Law, with an interest in foreign jurisdictions; specific training in liability is valued
• More than 3 years of relevant experience as a loss adjuster, broker or insurance company
• Experience writing reports and assessing claims
• Interest in developing a career as an insurance loss adjuster, including claims assessment and calculations
• Interest in international and cross-border claims
• High level of spoken and written English (at least B2); other languages are an asset

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of insurance claims management (liability, marine, property, recoveries)
• Good communication skills
