M&A Advisory Associate – Corporate & Investment Banking

About the role

BBVA Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Advisory delivers tailored corporate finance solutions to multinational corporations, financial sponsors and mid-cap clients, covering buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings and strategic capital advisory. This Associate role sits within that team and supports the execution of complex deals.

Key responsibilities

• Build, update and review financial models and valuation analyses (DCF, DDM, LBO, merger models, trading and transaction comparables), including sensitivity and scenario analyses.
• Manage the day-to-day execution of buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions, including deliverables, virtual data rooms, Q&A processes and due diligence workstreams, coordinating with tax, accounting, legal and other specialists.
• Prepare information memorandums, management presentations, teasers, pitch books, transaction analyses and internal approval materials.
• Conduct sector research, competitor benchmarking and company analysis to identify and assess potential M&A targets.
• Guide, train and review the output of Analysts to ensure quality and accuracy.

Required profile

• 3-5 years of experience in M&A, corporate finance or valuations and business modelling at an investment bank, M&A boutique or professional services firm.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering or another quantitative field; a Master's in Finance or CFA level/charter is a plus.
• Professional fluency in English and Spanish, written and spoken.
• Valid Mifid certification; it must be obtained at the start of employment if not yet held.

Required skills

• Strong financial modeling, accounting, corporate finance and valuation skills, including DCF, trading comparables and transaction comparables.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Preferred: experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, Refinitiv, Capital IQ or Mergermarket.
• Ability to analyse financial statements and business plans and to manage multiple workstreams under tight deadlines.
