Manufacturing Equipment Engineer – Electrical Systems (Tilburg)

About the role

The Manufacturing team at Tesla is looking for a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer with a focus on electrical systems to join the Tilburg facility. You will be the primary authority for troubleshooting, developing, and optimizing the equipment architecture of production lines, ensuring performance and reliability of complex electrical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of industrial electrical control panels, ensuring compliance with CE, Low Voltage Directive and EMC Directives.
• Develop and maintain multi‑page schematics in EPLAN Electric P8 and oversee cabinet builds and wiring.
• Create and optimise PLC logic, HMI interfaces and automation integration to improve machine cycle times and data acquisition.
• Engineer electrical retrofits for conveyors, actuators and automated testers to boost reliability and energy efficiency.
• Define electrical and safety hardware standards for third‑party vendors and ensure seamless integration.
• Design and validate redundant industrial safety systems (SIL/PL rated) for high‑voltage battery and high‑speed motion hazards.
• Perform root‑cause analysis using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal imaging and statistical software such as Minitab/JMP.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or Automation Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial electrical design within high‑volume manufacturing or custom machine building.
• First‑principles problem‑solving mindset and willingness to work hands‑on on the shop floor.

Required skills

• EPLAN Electric P8
• Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell PLC environments
• Industrial networking protocols: CAN, EtherCAT, Profinet, Ethernet/IP
• Knowledge of NEN 1010, NEN 3140 and European Machinery Directives
• LV/HV components, DAQ systems, VFDs, servo drives, sensors and safety controllers
• PLC logic development and HMI interface design
• Diagnostic tools: oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal imaging cameras
• Statistical analysis software: Minitab, JMP
