MEP Engineer - Building Services

About the role

Hitachi Energy is setting up an Operation Center of Excellence in Madrid (ESOPC) within its Grid Integration business in Europe. As a MEP Engineer (Building Services Engineering), you will design and plan complete building services systems, develop solutions with customers and partners and deliver them as part of international project teams. Projects focus on grid stability and power transmission across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare concepts, proposals and inquiry documents for HVAC systems, lighting, electrical installations, access control and surveillance, and fire suppression, fire protection and fire alarm systems.
• Manage assigned disciplines, including budget and schedule responsibility.
• Coordinate external planners, specialist consultants and suppliers from proposal through final site acceptance.
• Integrate building services into the project, including interface management, planning and BIM-based coordination.
• Hold meetings with customers, partners and site teams, and carry out factory and site acceptance tests.
• Expand technical expertise, review designs for feasibility, compliance and optimization, and support project acquisition, bids and cost estimation.

Required profile

• Degree in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in building services engineering in lighting/surveillance, HVAC or fire protection systems.
• Strong technical knowledge, proactive and solution-oriented approach, and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Professional English; German is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in engineering and design tools such as Revit, BIM, ACC, Relux or similar.
• Understanding of applicable standards, codes and regulations.
