Mission Systems SW Development Engineer

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Mission Systems Software Development Engineer to join its Mission System SW Department in Getafe, Spain. The team creates advanced onboard software that fuses sensor, weapons, avionics and datalink data to deliver a tactical picture to pilots and operators. You will contribute to the definition, implementation and evolution of future mission‑system software architectures for military platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and verify software components for development rigs, integration benches and aircraft.
• Adapt the overall software and deployment architecture to meet new customer requirements.
• Integrate software into aircraft mission computers together with operating systems and supplier drivers.
• Perform unit testing, hardware‑software integration, black‑box and non‑regression testing.
• Work within an Agile framework to ensure quality and schedule compliance.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 2‑3 years of experience across the full software development lifecycle.
• Strong ability to understand complex system needs and work cooperatively in a team.
• Advanced English proficiency.
• Only Spanish citizens will be considered due to classified program requirements.

Required skills

• C++ programming.
• Qt/QML graphics libraries.
• Network protocols: Ethernet, ARP, IP, UDP, TCP.
• Network analysis with Wireshark.
• Familiarity with communication buses such as A429, RS422, 1553, AFDX (nice to have).
• Experience with SUSE Linux or other Linux distributions (nice to have).
• Agile methodologies: Scrum, Kanban, SAFe (nice to have).
