NDT Technician – Ultrasonic Testing (CFRP)

About the role
The company is seeking a qualified NDT Technician to perform contact ultrasonic testing on carbon‑fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminates, bonded joints and structural assemblies for a global superyacht service provider. The role involves travelling to customer sites, refit yards and race events across Europe and internationally.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct contact ultrasonic testing of CFRP laminates, bonded joints and structural assemblies following approved NDT procedures.
- Set up and verify UT equipment, including phased‑array systems such as OmniScan SX, in line with calibration and pre‑inspection requirements.
- Identify, size and classify indications such as delaminations, voids, wrinkles and disbonds.
- Prepare clear, accurate inspection reports documenting findings, locations, sizing data and inspection parameters.
- Maintain OJT records and inspection documentation to meet programme and certification body requirements.
- Support procedure development and participate in technique trials under Level III direction.
- Operate and maintain NDT equipment in field conditions, ensuring calibration status is always current.
- Contribute to the company quality management system and programme audits.
Required profile
- External NDT Level 2 certification in Ultrasonic Testing (ISO 9712, PCN, NAS 410 or equivalent).
- Proven experience in UT of CFRP or composite structures, preferably in marine, aerospace or wind‑energy sectors.
- Competence in contact UT pulse‑echo techniques; familiarity with phased‑array UT is advantageous.
- Ability to set up equipment, select appropriate probes and frequencies, and calibrate without supervision.
- Experience producing formal inspection reports to recognised standards.
- Full, clean driving licence and valid passport; willingness to travel internationally at short notice.
- Based in Europe and willing to relocate to Spain.
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
