Network Engineer – Monitoring & Observability (SolarWinds)

About the role

The Network Monitoring Engineer will be fully dedicated to network monitoring and observability initiatives for a major client. The role is project‑oriented, hands‑on, and involves designing, deploying, migrating and operationalising monitoring platforms across data‑center, WAN, campus and cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement end‑to‑end network monitoring covering traffic, performance, availability and service KPIs.
• Deploy and evolve platforms such as NetScout, SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, Cisco DNAC and FortiAnalyzer, and integrate them with ITSM, alerting and collaboration tools.
• Participate in RFPs, PoCs and migrations from legacy tools, defining standards, dashboards and alert models.
• Support complex network troubleshooting using traffic and performance data, and drive continuous improvement of observability maturity.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of LAN, WAN, SD‑WAN and data‑center networking, including routing, switching, QoS and TCP behaviour.
• Hands‑on experience with network monitoring/observability tools (NetScout, SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, Cisco DNAC, FortiAnalyzer).
• Familiarity with firewalls and security devices (Fortinet, Palo Alto) and hybrid environments (on‑prem, AWS, Azure).
• Analytical mindset, ability to work in multi‑stakeholder projects and communicate clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences.

• SNMP, NetFlow/sFlow, syslog, APIs.
• LAN/WAN/SD‑WAN design, routing, switching, QoS.

• Hybrid cloud concepts (AWS, Azure) and ITSM integration (Jira Service Management).
