Operational Lead, Cost Management - Data Centres

About the role

Turner & Townsend is a global leader in professional services for the data centre sector. Because of the continued growth of its Data Centre business in Spain, it is looking for an experienced Operational Lead for its Cost Management service to support the delivery and growth of major data centre projects and programmes. The role leads strategic commissions, high-profile projects and a growing commercial team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee cost management services through all project stages, reviewing and approving estimates, cost plans, reports and commercial deliverables.
• Advise on value engineering, value management and commercial strategy, and implement and improve cost management tools and processes.
• Lead, mentor and develop the Cost Management team, supporting recruitment, performance management and succession planning.
• Take responsibility for operational performance, resource planning and utilisation, and act as senior escalation point for complex commercial, contractual and operational issues.
• Manage business performance, including P&L, forecasting, financial reporting and monitoring of project profitability, risk and cash flow.
• Build strong client relationships, represent the company in executive meetings and advise clients strategically.
• Contribute to business development, identify account expansion opportunities and work with regional and global leadership teams.

Required profile

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of cost management experience, preferably in large-scale mission-critical, data centre or complex construction projects.
• Proven experience leading cost management and commercial teams and managing business performance with P&L responsibility.
• Full cost management lifecycle experience, from planning and estimating to procurement, pre-contract, post-contract and final account.
• Experience managing senior client relationships and business development.
• Fluent English; Spanish is highly desirable.
