Payments & Cash Management Specialist

About the role

Barclays is hiring a Payments & Cash Management Specialist in Madrid within its Transaction Banking team, part of the Global Specialist Cash Sales unit. The role supports Relationship Directors in identifying, structuring and monetising complex domestic and cross-border cash, liquidity and global payment opportunities, acting as a subject matter expert in Payments and Cash Sales and advising clients while shaping new product developments.

Key responsibilities

• Identify potential customers, analyse their needs and stay ahead of market trends and competitor strategies
• Create detailed profiles of target segments and build strong relationships with current and prospective clients
• Explain the features, benefits, risks and compliance requirements of banking products, and develop sales pitches and proposals
• Negotiate terms that benefit both client and bank, and collect and analyse customer feedback
• Monitor lead conversion rates, customer acquisition costs and other metrics to assess sales performance
• Contribute to strategy, plan resources and budgets, manage policies and processes, and advise stakeholders and senior management
• Manage and mitigate risks, strengthen controls and collaborate with product, tax, legal, finance and compliance teams

Required profile

• Experience in a cash origination business development or sales team
• Knowledge of the Spanish and European corporate and financial markets
• Experience in cash management, liquidity and global payment solutions
• Sales management, pipeline and stakeholder management experience
• Understanding of the value of deposits and money transmission
• Experience in risk, compliance and regulatory governance
• Desirable: ACIB, degree or ACT diploma or similar

• Cash sales cycle management and pipeline planning
• Complex cash management solutions (notional pooling, multicurrency pooling, ZBA)
• Liquidity solutions, FX payment solutions and multicurrency solutions
• Market infrastructures and clearing and settlement systems such as TARGET2, EURO1, CHAPS, BACS, FEDWIRE, STEP2 and RT1
• European domestic payment solutions (SEPA SCT, SDDs, TIPS, EBICs)
• SWIFT knowledge (XML ISO 20022, FINPLUS, FileAct)
