Performance Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Performance Engineer to drive performance characterization and optimization of RTI’s Connext Professional software. You will work on performance modeling, workload and network characterization, and bottleneck analysis to ensure our systems meet scalability, latency, and throughput requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute performance testing, regression detection, and benchmarking initiatives using tools such as gprof, perf, and other profilers.
• Conduct performance modeling and simulations to predict software behavior under varying workloads.
• Perform workload and network characterization to analyze usage patterns and resource consumption.
• Develop and maintain shared tools and infrastructure for performance measurement, analysis, and reporting.
• Collaborate with development teams to embed performance considerations throughout the software lifecycle.
• Publish performance test results with clear, actionable insights and visualizations for stakeholders.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, HPC, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in performance modeling, testing, analysis, and optimization of critical software systems.
• Experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with automated performance testing.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities with attention to detail.

Required skills

• Performance profiling tools: gprof, perf.
• Performance testing frameworks: JMeter, LoadRunner (optional).
• Programming languages: C++, Python, Java.
• Continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Familiarity with eBPF for performance monitoring and profiling.
